Give us some history about the pub
We are one of the oldest buildings in the area. We even have a priest hole. The pub dates back over 800 years.
What we feel sets us apart from other places is our friendly team and our loyal customers.
Our customers are frequent faces in the pub, to the point that we have a list of bookings that are automatically booked in each week, at the same time, on the same day and sometimes even the same table. (We have customers that ring in sick!)
Is food served? Is so what’s on the menu?
Yes. Traditional pub food. Our homemade plated pies (cheese and onion, and mince and onion) and our chicken and black pudding main course which is made with our chef’s secret recipe pepper sauce.
Is there a beer garden
Yes
Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams
No
Most popular drink served is:
Pint of Theakstons mixed
Most memorable moment at the pub
New Year’s Eve parties are always memorable! New Year’s Eve is it’s mostly for the locals of the Duckworth Hall area. So everyone knows everyone else, so your never stuck for conversation or someone to dance with.
Do you have an entertainment line-up?
No
Have you faced any challenges within the industry
COVID was an obvious challenge for ourselves and all other businesses. Luckily our brewery were very helpful to us during these times which helped us be able to reopen.
The best thing about running a pub is
Our team are like our family. And seeing local and regular customers smiles each week.
The worst thing about running a pub is...
The hours. But we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s a lifestyle.
The perfect hangover cure is...
A roast beef dinner, a Britvic 55 and sleep.
