CHILDREN have been learning all about staying safe online.

Pupils at Audley Junior School in Blackburn have taken part in the Be Internet Legends online safety programme from Google, in partnership with ParentZone.

It aims to help children aged seven to 11 to be safer, more confident explorers of the online world.

Leanne Aspin, the computing and online safety lead for the school, said: "We have always worked hard towards keeping our children safe online and in 2019, I introduced the 'Be Internet Legends' curriculum in to our school so that at least one quality online safety lesson is being taught to all children each half term, ensuring that the learning is relevant and shows progression.

"We started our celebration of Be Internet Legends Day by having the whole school watch their live assembly and we even got a shout-out!

"The rest of the day was then spent completing fun related activities so that we could continue to learn how to be an 'Internet Legend'.

"It is more important than ever that our children are taught how to stay safe on the internet and also how to be confident explorers of the online world. Through the lessons that we teach, we aim to equip our children with the skills they need to ensure that their experiences online are positive and meaningful."
