An 'inadequate' nursery which handed over their registration during an Ofsted inspection has been put up for sale.

Victoria's Nursery in Padiham closed on November 23 after handing over their registration to the education inspection service after being rated 'inadequate' during an inspection on September 20.

Ofsted forced the nursery to close after the September inspection to give them time to make the necessary improvements and they were allowed to open again on October 15.

A further follow up inspection in November saw the owner of the nursery, Kerry Driver, hand over the registration, forcing them to permanently close the doors.

The nursery, in Burnley Road, has now been put on the market for just under £399,950 with Alan J Picken Business Transfer Agents, based in Ilkley.

The listing on the website reads: “The nursery accommodates up to 36 children between the ages of 0-5 years, and has been designed to suit the needs of the children, with large, bright, colourful play rooms and outdoor play areas, complete with modern, valuable equipment.”

In the September inspection, the Ofsted inspector described the nursery as ‘disorganised, chaotic and noisy’.

The nursery was found to be inadequate in quality of education; behaviour and attitudes; personal development; and leadership and management.

Inspector, Donna Birch, commented on how the venue put children at “significant risk of harm and severely impacts on their health, safety, well-being and their learning and development.”

Ms Birch also spoke of how the children had been placed at “extreme risk of harm” from trailing wires, an insecure baby gate, an unravelled hosepipe, mouldy toys and plastic wrappers.

The final inspection report reads: “On 23 November 2021, we commenced an inspection and found that the provider was not meeting a number of requirements.

“During the inspection the provider resigned their registration. This meant that we were unable to complete the inspection.

“The provider is no longer registered with Ofsted.”

The Lancashire Telegraph attempted to contact the nursery owner on several occasions but were unsuccessful.
