Pupils and staff at an Islamic girls’ high school have been praised by Ofsted inspectors.

Al Islah Girls' High School, next to the Masjide Noorul Islam on Audley Range, Blackburn, recently had a full Ofsted Inspection and achieved a rating of ‘Good’.

Headteacher, Nikhat Pardesi said: “We know the hard work doesn’t stop here. Our journey is of continual improvement and so we will strive to push ourselves to develop our school and ensure we offer a positive, safe and successful learning experience for all pupils.

“I have no doubt that the school will continue to thrive and perform better. Thank you to all parents who spoke to inspectors and made such positive comments about our school. I know they are very much appreciated by the staff team.”

The report said: “The headteacher and senior leaders provide a high-quality education that encompasses British and Islamic values. The ambitious, well-sequenced curriculum enables pupils to achieve highly in a wide range of subjects. The proprietor and governors know where the school’s strengths lie. They have a clear overview of the curriculum’s effectiveness and support leaders’ high ambitions for pupils’ achievement.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

The inspection praised the contribution of pupils for their extra-curricular activities and said: “Pupils are upstanding and active citizens. They know that their views are valued and heard. Recently, members of the school council successfully lobbied leaders for new play equipment and hot lunches.

“They also worked successfully with leaders to ‘rebrand’ the school uniform. Pupils live the school’s motto, which is, ‘respect, educate and achieve’.

“This is evident in their conscientious behaviour and attitude to learning. Pupils collect funds for various charities and the local food bank. They recently raised money to pay for a water well, which was installed in a village in Sri Lanka.

“Pupils participate in national and international events, such as Remembrance Day. They celebrate Black History Month, and relish their leadership responsibilities as ‘buddies’, sports captains and prefects.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

The report acknowledged the work of governors who have ‘worked closely with the headteacher to improve classroom resources and refurbish the science laboratory.’

Chair of Governing Body, Hasan Desai said: “I am very proud of all the staff, my team of Governors, respected Trustees and the community supporting the school.

“Everyone has worked extremely hard over the last few years and we have achieved a fantastic result in our recent Ofsted. The children themselves should be very proud of the way they conduct themselves in school and how they live out our shared values.

“Their positive attitudes to learning; respect for staff and one another and their conduct throughout the school day is reflected in our report.”
