CHILDREN at schools across Blackburn with Darwen are taking part in a ‘passport’ project to learn more about what legendary MP Barbara Castle achieved during her lifetime.
With the Equal Pay Act, seatbelt introduction and the speed limit being just a few of her big wins, the Baroness – who was recently unveiled as a beautiful bronze in Jubilee Square – is said to be a source of inspiration to the next generation.

A new initiative has now been launched, led by Blackburn Children’s University, asking pupils across the borough what it means to them to #BeMoreBarbara.
The young people are being encouraged to write an information sheet about Barbara, covering who she is and what she achieved.
Youths are being asked to take a selfie with statue, as children from Year 2 at St Michael and St John CE Primary School Blackburn did at their visit to the statue last month.
