A driver and a passenger were arrested after being caught with heroin and crack cocaine.

In the early hours of Friday morning, police tried to stop a car travelling on Bolton Road in Chorley.

The driver tried to speed off but was swiftly brought to a halt.

When police questioned the occupants and searched the vehicle, they found numerous wraps of suspected heroin and crack cocaine, and both the driver and the passenger were arrested.

The driver also failed a roadside drugs test and was further arrested for being disqualified from driving. 

A spokesperson for the police said on Friday: "Early hours of this morning, HO51 sighted a vehicle on Bolton road Chorley.

"Vehicle immediately attempted to make off but was stopped.

"Numerous wraps of Heroin and crack found within, both occupants arrested.

"Driver also arrested for drug driving and disqualified driving."
