The report in the Lancashire Telegraph of the convicted rapist recently released from prison who indecently assaulted a lone female at Accrington railway station reaffirms my concerns over recidivists being released too early and proving to be a constant and continual danger to the public.

This was clearly a frightening experience for this lady and one that could and should have been avoided.

I do ask why is a man with propensities of this nature allowed to be at large on licence? Surely the public need greater protection.

Disturbingly these situations are being repeated far too often. The recall of double child killer Colin Pitchfork back to jail only two months after his release despite a public outcry owing to ‘concerning behaviour’ is yet another example of how the Parole Board get it wrong failing to put public safety first. This is a man who does not deserve a second chance

In my opinion the Parole Board is unaccountable, their decision making process is fundamentally flawed and it is not fit for purpose.

No person should be allowed to go free until a proper risk assessment has been carried out. In an effort to restore public trust Dominic Raab needs to implement a root and branch review of the system before anyone else is placed at risk.
