Demolition of Ewood Mill, Blackburn, 1991
PILES of rubble, some large holes in the ground and a cloud of dust drifting across the site.
Taken in September 1991, this photograph records the end of yet another of East Lancashire’s industrial landmarks.
The floodlights in the background should help you place the site as they are at Blackburn Rovers Ewood Park ground with the former Ewood Mill complex being demolished in the foreground.
The mill was situated behind the houses lining Bolton Road and the site is now home to the Aldi supermarket.
