A 22-year-old man has been arrested after smashing a window when he missed his train.

Police were called to Blackburn train station just after midnight on Monday after receiving reports that a window at the front of the station had been smashed.

When they arrived they found a frustrated young man who had missed his train and had decided to take his anger out on the innocent window.

He admitted responsibility for his actions and police are now making further enquiries into the act of criminal damage.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "Just after midnight last night a person who was frustrated at having missed his train smashed a window at the front of Blackburn Station.

"Officers attended and a 22-year-old male found at the scene admitted responsibility.

"Enquiries into the criminal damage are ongoing."
