A church is calling for people to bring in presents for children to help the less fortunate families over Christmas.

Highfield Congregational church in Highfield will be collecting presents for children, men and woman during their annual carol service led by the Salvation Army Band on Sunday, December 5.

Donated gifts will be gathered round the Christmas tree and afterwards the band members will take them to be sorted and distributed.

Items should be new and in their original wrappings but not further wrapped in Christmas paper so that they can be sorted according to the age and gender of the recipients.

The service starts at 3pm and afterwards hot drinks and mince pies are served to everyone. All are welcome.
