TWO men who broke into an Accrington bar through the roof had to find another way out after they stole the till.
Blackburn magistrates heard Mtthew James Weller and his accomplice damaged a fire door trying to escape from the Crafty Fox before smashing a window.
Weller, 40, of Bellfield Road, Accrington, pleaded guilty to burglary and theft of the till and £7 together worth £476. He was sent on bail to Burnley Crown Court to be sentenced.
Drew Barrow, prosecuting, said the offence was committed on October 10 and the other man had already been sent to the Crown Court.
He said when police arrived, following the alarm being activated, they could see damage to the roof and a window.
CCTV from inside the bar showed two people come through the ceiling from the first floor and make a search.
"They had removed slates from the roof to gain access and then realised they were locked in," said Mr Barrow.
He said they had damaged a front upstairs window to get out but had also damaged a fire door which they had tried to open to make their escape.
The court was told Weller had seven previous convictions for burglary.
