A man was found on a train station with steak knife, a half eaten steak and other cutlery.

Officers were called to Preston train station on Sunday after receiving reports that a man was brandishing a knife on the platform.

When they arrived they found the man to be in possession of not only a knife, but a steak knife, other cutlery and a half eaten piece of steak.

According to the man, he hadn't finished his pub lunch by the time his train arrived so he decided to take his meal with him...which was a big mis-steak on his part.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "Report of a male with a knife.

"Person was located with a steak knife. He also had a steak and other cutlery.

"Turned out he hadn’t finished his pub meal by the time his train was due so he took it all with him.

"Mis-steak on his part. Rare incident. Well done officers."
