Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) has been recognised by the Asian Fire Service Association (AFSA) at a recent awards event.
The service was commended at the ceremony in Liverpool for the work that it continues to do to support its communities and its staff.
The AFSA awards celebrate the many exceptional achievements of staff by sharing knowledge and best practice across the public sector.
They showcase the innovative work around prevention, partnership and inclusion in the workplace.
LFRS was nominated in three different awards categories with firefighter Adam Higginbottom winning the award for Covid-19 going the extra mile.
The other two nominations were for Shahbaz Shah who was nominated in the equality role model award for initiating and leading action to remove barriers, and improve the working experience and engagement levels of employees or demonstrating the excellence in the delivery of services.
Finally, the service’s race and religion group was nominated for the work that the service does around positive action.
Adam Higginbottom attended the awards event to collect his prize and said: “I feel very honoured to have won the award for Covid-19 going the extra mile at the Asian Fire Service Association Awards last week.
"I have worked alongside some amazing colleagues in Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, East Lancashire CCG and North West Ambulance Service during the pandemic and I thank them for their incredible support.”
