A man has died after becoming trapped in machinery in Blackburn.
Firefighters were called to rescue the man in his 20s following the incident at an industrial site on Bruce Street.
But he died from his injuries and a joint investigation has now been launched by police and the Health and Safety Executive.
A police spokesperson said: "We were called by the ambulance service at shortly before 3pm yesterday (Thursday, November 25th) to a report of an industrial accident on business premises on Bruce Street in Blackburn where a man in his 20s had suffered serious injuries.
“Sadly, those injuries proved fatal. Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this time.
“We are in the early stages of a joint investigation into the circumstances with our colleagues from the Health and Safety Executive and those enquiries are ongoing.”
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "At 2.47pm on 25 November, three fire engines from Blackburn and Chorley attended a rescue of a person on Bruce Street, Blackburn.
"One casualty had become trapped in machinery.
"Firefighters used a high pressure airbag to release the casualty before they were placed in the care of North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) paramedics.
"Crews remained in attendance for approximately two and a half hours.”
