A DESPERATE bid has been launched to find a home for two brothers and their little sister.

Harry, Kai and Scarlet are living apart in emergency foster care having been taken away from their parents who were drug users.

A spokesman for Lancashire County Council also said that there were fears surrounding physical and domestic abuse in the home as well as an inability to provide the children with a safe environment to grow up in.

There were sadly no foster carers able to take all three siblings meaning they are currently in separate homes.

A statement reads: “The children have a close bond which is evident when they meet each other, and it is in their best interests to stay together, especially after the upheaval that they have already faced.”

A new campaign has been launched this week to encourage more Lancashire residents to consider fostering siblings.

The authority has launched the appeal due to an increase of brother and sister groups across the region needing loving families to provide a stable environment which will allow the children to stay together.

County Councillor Cosima Towneley said: “'There are many families and individuals considering taking the first step into fostering.

“We want to encourage and help them take these first steps as the benefits for both families, individuals and the child or children involved are immense

“We are always looking to grow our Foster Family community especially where a sibling group can be kept together in a long-term home.

“The difficulties experienced by these children in their early years make the maintaining of the sibling bond alongside long term stability of prime importance. We want anyone considering taking the plunge to contact our Fostering Team who will be able to guide them through the process.”

The county council is appealing to a range of people to consider fostering.

The change in their circumstances caused by the coronavirus situation could leave many well placed to provide a loving home for these children. The council is also urging anyone who has fostered with them in the past to think about coming forward to offer the benefit of their experience.

Becoming a foster carer could also be an ideal opportunity for anyone who is looking for a new challenge.
