A person has been arrested and taken to hospital with a serious leg injury after a two-car crash.

Police, ambulance, and fire crews were all called to Knuzden Brook at about 4.10pm this afternoon to a crash between two vehicles.

An Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf were involved in the incident, with one driver having been taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called at shortly before 4:10pm this afternoon (Tuesday, November 23rd) to the report of a collision on Knuzden Brook in Blackburn.

"It is believed that a Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3 were involved, with the Golf driver suffering what is thought to be a serious leg injury. He was taken to hospital and remains there also under arrest.

"The driver and passenger of the Audi are also believed to have suffered injuries.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call us on 101 quoting incident reference 881 of November 23."

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “At 16:11 on November 23, two fire engines from Blackburn attended a road traffic collision on Knuzden Brook.

“The incident involved three vehicles. Three casualties were released from their vehicles by firefighters before being placed in the care of North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) paramedics.

“Crews used small tools and stabilisation equipment and worked to make the scene safe. They were in attendance for approximately an hou."

The mbulance service has been contacted for comment.
