A MAN who broke into an engineering workshop stole a £200 laptop.

Blackburn magistrates heard Ricky Dean Williamson also caused £250-worth of damage in the process.

Williamson, 44, of Bolton Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to burglary at Jig Boring Services, Ordnance Street, and theft of a laptop. He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 30 days’ rehabilitation activity requirement and a curfew for 10 weeks between 7pm and 7am. He was ordered to pay £450 compensation.

Alex Mann, prosecuting, said the owner turned up at the property the following day to see a set of ladders up against the building which was surrounded by a secure compound.

Ian Huggan, defending, said his client hadn’t been in trouble for a number of years.
