TWO schools have been commended in their latest Ofsted reports.

Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio was described as a ‘good’ school following an inspection in September.

Sudell Primary School, which is also run by the Aldridge Education multi-academy trust, was now ‘transformed’ said a further inspection.

At the Enterprise Studio inspectors found a school ‘which is a calm and welcoming place to be’ and ‘which nurtures pupils so that they thrive and succeed’.

Pupils were said to have ‘a positive relationship with staff which helps them to develop their self-confidence’.

Pupils benefited from workshops led by industry experts and the ‘plentiful opportunities to take part in work experience placements across the year’.

Chief executive officer at Aldridge Education, Jane Fletcher, said: “The past 18 months have been challenging for everyone including schools, to be inspected and receive such a glowing Ofsted report is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved.”

Principal Colin Grand said: “The Ofsted report was an endorsement of all the positive work that goes on at the Enterprise Studio on a daily basis.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

Sudell Primary was also graded ‘good’ after being rated ‘requires improvement’ in a 2018 inspection.

Ofsted visited the Ellison Fold Terrace school in October and found a ‘transformed school where pupils achieve well because school leaders have high expectations of pupils’.

Pupils were able to ‘enjoy being at school and are greeted each morning by kind, friendly teachers; and a place where lessons are fun and exciting’.

The school was described as somewhere where ‘pupils are kind and friendly to each other and to visitors’ and where pupils ‘behave well in lessons and around school’.

Principal Helena Lewis said: “The last two years have been extremely difficult for all schools including Sudell, where we have had to operate in a global pandemic, support key workers and keep our pupils and community safe.”

Ms Fletcher added: “The Ofsted judgement for Sudell is a testament to the transformational journey the school has undertaken in the last few years and l have no doubts from what I have seen during the inspection that they will continue on their journey to outstanding.”
