ONE of Blackburn's most prominent accountancy firms has expanded further into East Lancashire with a new takeover deal.

PM+M, which is based at New Century House on Greenbank Technology Park and also has a branch in Bury, has now acquired the Accrington office of fellow chartered accountancy firm Haworths.

The Bury firm hopes that this will help increase its presence and reach across the region.

PM+M managing partner Jane Parry said: "Haworths has an enviable reputation, so we are delighted to welcome the team and their clients to PM+M.

"We have known the directors of Haworths for many years and we see real synergies between the two firms as we share a client-focused approach, have similar cultures, shared values, and a range of complementary services.

"I’m confident this deal will add value and will help us to continue investing in and growing our East Lancashire presence."

The deal will see Haworths staff continue to work at the Old Tannery in Accrington for the time being, with the intention to relocate to PM+M’s head office in Blackburn, in March next year.

Haworths director Paul Spencer, will be joining PM+M as a partner while his director colleague Mark Schofield will be there for the transition period and assist with client introductions before focusing on managing the Haworths Settle office.

Mr Spencer said: "PM+M is a highly regarded name in the North West and offers a range of services to its clients which encompass and strengthen our own, as well as providing additional expertise in areas such as tax advisory, research and development tax credits, and corporate finance.

He added: "Our hope is that joining PM+M will mean greater things for us and our clients.

"The increased resources, along with PM+M’s commitment to quality and people development, will ensure that we can continue to provide an exceptional client service."
