A social media influencer from Darwen has opened up about the time he got involved in a Twitter spat with media personality, Rebekah Vardy.

The Tik Tok star, known as Max Balegde, appeared on the Pretty Little Thing podcast and revealed all about the argument which lead to Vardy blocking him on the social media site.

The Twitter conflict came after Max made a joke which resurfaced the ‘Wagatha Christie’ row between Coleen Rooney back in March.

In 2019, Mrs Rooney accused Mrs Vardy of leaking “false stories” about her private life  after carrying out a months-long “sting operation”.

The wife of former England star Wayne Rooney, dubbed “Wagatha Christie”, publicly claimed her fellow footballer’s wife shared fake stories she had posted on her personal Instagram account with The Sun newspaper.

Speaking on the podcast, Max said he was blocked by Rebekah after he made a Tweet about his Tik Tok videos being reported.

Max explained: “[Back in March] I tweeted out ‘I know who is reporting me. I found out who it is. Please stop immediately.

“I [actually] had no idea but I thought ‘if they see this and think I know they will stop’.

“Under that I wrote the classic meme ‘… it was… Rebekah Vardy’s account’ because I feel like that’s quite funny.”

However, Rebekah didn’t see the funny side and hit back at the Tik Tok star in response.

Max explained: “Rebekah wrote ‘you have no idea what this has done to me… I am not doing such a thing’.

“I was like, ‘Rebekah love - I don’t think anybody actually believes that you are spending your day… reporting my Tik Toks.

“She replied with the most brilliant thing. I think she meant to say ‘irrelevant’ but instead she wrote ‘irreverant’ which actually means ‘amazing’.

Max added that he “basked in the glory of the moment” – until he woke up the next morning and read the story in a Daily Mail article.

“My manager asked ‘is this you’… and I thought ‘ oh my God I’m going to lose my job’,” Max explained on the podcast.

“Luckily, they were just like ‘oh, you know how to use Tik Tok? We are a giant business who are trying to figure out the whole Tik Tok thing.

“So we will just let you help out with Tik Tok campaigns.”

Despite the Twitter row, Max is eager to squash the tension between him and the Norwich-born model.

He added: “If you’re listening Rebekah Vardy, I just want to squash this beef. I have no dislike towards you, I am sure that you’re a lovely woman.

“I don’t know Coleen Rooney, we’ve not had coffee and discussed you. Please unblock me on Twitter, I want to see your hilarious tweets.

“I miss you in my life, please come home soon – I love you lots.”

The Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney libel case is still ongoing. In the latest update, the High Court has ruled that Jamie Vardy’s phone may now be inspected as part of the case.
