A carer from East Lancashire who has shown an 'incredible level of care and dedication' over the last 18 months has been awarded for her efforts.

At the North West Great British Care Awards 2021, held in Manchester last week, Claire Rothwell, who is the activities co-ordinator at Pendle Brook Care Home in Oswaldtwistle, was awarded the Care Home Activity Organiser award.

The event, hosted by Steve Walls on Saturday November 13, was a glamorous evening with entertainment, a three-course meal, and a trophy giving ceremony, and continued with dancing into the night.

Ms Rothwell said: "It was an amazing feeling when it was announced that I had won.

"I feel honoured to have been nominated for an award for doing a job which I love.ā€

The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of excellence across the care sector paying tribute to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

Ms Rothwell joined the team at Pendle Brook 18 months ago and has since shown an incredible level of care and dedication through her work planning and executing innovative, varied, and engaging activities for everyone she helps look after.

Kelly Gough, Manager at Pendle Brook said, ā€œI am over the moon that Claire won the Great British Care Award.

"We are extremely proud of Claire, she is an asset to the team here at Pendle Brook.

"She always goes above and beyond for the people living here and Iā€™m delighted that her hard work and commitment has been noticed and awarded.

"Her energy and drive to continually find new activities and projects for the ladies and gentlemen at Pendle Brook to get stuck into is a joy to learn about and see."

Ms Rothwell will now be invited to the National Great British Care Award ceremony later in the year, hosted in Birmingham, which will see all the winners from around the country get together to celebrate and name the national winner in each of the 24 categories.
