A man from East Lancashire has been charged following a series of dawn raids across the North West.

On Tuesday morning, police in Greater Manchester raided four addresses in Bacup, Hyde and Glossop as part of an investigation into the supply of drugs and firearms.

Four people were arrested, including a 44-year-old man from Bacup, and a kilo of amphetamine seized from one of the properties.

Following interviews, three men have now been charged as part of Operation Venetic.

They will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday accused of the following:

Peter Downs, 44, of Rochdale Road, Bacup, charged with conspiracy to supply class A and B, and conspiracy to supply a firearm.

Michael Sierotko, 32 of Markham Close, Hyde, charged with conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs and conspiracy to supply a firearm;

Oliver Harrison, 31, of Hawthorn Drive, Glossop, charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs, conspiracy to supply a firearm, and possession with intent to supply class B drugs;

Officers from GMP's tactical aid unit - along with support from GMP Tameside, Lancashire, and Derbyshire - arrested the men before dawn on Tuesday.

They are the 200th arrests as part of the NCA-led law enforcement operation - codenamed Venetic - investigating the encrypted communication network, EncroChat.

A 25-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs has been released under investigation.
