WE are continuing our hunt to highlight the finest watering holes across East Lancashire in our ‘Pub of the Week’ feature.
So far we have visited Blackburn, Burnley, Ribble Valley and Rossendale to speak to the landlords of our pubs.
This time we return to Hyndburn and in particular Oswaldtwistle to find out more about the Rhoden Inn.

Give us some history about the pub
So it was originally three houses. We recently had a refurb last week but we’ve kept the old traditional feel with a modern twist. It’s very much a community pub our customers are families such as sons, fathers, mothers and grandparents so every day is like reliving your younger days.
Is food served? Is so what’s on the menu?
No
Is there a beer garden
Yes
Do you have any darts/snooker/pool teams
Two men’s darts teams and one ladies darts team one pool team
Most popular drink served is:
Lager
Most memorable moment at the pub
Halloween. We decorated the pub with lots of spooky things and had signs designed as the ‘Addams Family Inn’. We had pretend skeletons outside.
Do you have an entertainment line-up?
We are currently closing for a refurb but when we are open yes we have entertainment every week including bands.
Have you faced any challenges within the industry
Covid was a huge challenge for pubs. Outside service was horrendous especially for a busy pub.
The best thing about running a pub is
My customers they inspire me to do better every single day. Without them I wouldn’t have a successful business that I have today.
The worst thing about running a pub is...
All the behind the scenes stuff.
The perfect hangover cure is...
The best hangover cure is a definitely a pint in the Rhoden. Hair of the dog!
