Like it or not, Christmas is just around the corner and it’s time to start planning which pantomimes you will be attending this festive season.

Luckily, there are plenty taking place right on our doorstep in Lancashire – and we have rounded up some of the very best.

Most of these performances are star-studded and sure to impress children and adults alike. 

Here are 10 pantomime performances taking place in Lancashire in 2021/2022:

With all the traditional thrills of a family pantomime, popular songs, dancers, comedy, beautiful sets and costumes, only you can help Dick to stop the King Rat's plan to take over the whole of England. Set sail with Dick and his friends as they adventure on the voyage of a lifetime.

 

2. Beauty and the Beast, The Muni Theatre, Colne

Following a very successful first season at The Muni with ‘Aladdin’, for 2022, Shone Productions Ltd returns with another amazing pantomime - and a first for the theatre – ‘Beauty and The Beast’.

Join us for the most enchanting story of all time. Watch as an arrogant young prince is turned into a hideous Beast who is destined to stay that way until he learns to love and be loved in return. Meet the beautiful Belle who turns up at the Beast's castle after he imprisons her mother. Will Belle and her friends conquer evil and lift the curse?


3. Sleeping Beauty, Burnley Mechanics Theatre, Burnley

Renowned for their high quality shows, the award winning Burnley Pantomime Society are set to thrill audiences once again with one of the most popular tales ever told.

Packed with comedy, great music, stunning scenery, wonderful costumes, heroes, villains, audience participation and all the excitement that only pantomime can provide. This magical production is guaranteed to light up any winter night.


4. Cinderalla, Bacup Royal Court Theatre, Bacup

Dates: 14th,15th,16th 21st 22nd 23rd January 2022

Bring the whole family to Cinderella, a spellbinding pantomime staged in The All new Bacup Royal Court theatre. Cinders, her wicked Stepmother, a jealous stepsister or two, the Fairy Godmother, Buttons and Prince Charming will all make an appearance in this magical family pantomime. Fun day out for the whole family


5. Aladdin, The Globe Theatre, Blackpool Pleasure Beach

This production follows Aladdin’s adventures as he gets entangled in the struggle between good and evil…as the audience sits back, claps, cheers, boos and finds the answers to these important questions: Will the Princess tell her father, the Emperor of Abanazar’s evil plot? Will Aladdin save the day and find true love? Will the Widow Twanky ever get her washing done?

Starring Chorley’s Kevin Simm, lead singer of Wet, Wet, Wet, winner of The Voice and star of Liberty X, as Aladdin, the show features a fabulous cast of singers and dancers including Del Wilden as Widow Twanky, Russ Brown as Wishee Washee, Nigel Garton as Abanazar, Tuesday as So-Shy, Cheryl Naylor as The Empress, Sarah Ward as Slave of the Ring and Alexey Kofanov as Genie of the Lamp.


6. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Grand Theatre, Blackpool

Dates: 3 December – 2 January

This year’s pantomime will star Vicky Entwistle (Coronation Street) as the Wicked Queen, and Grand Panto favourite Steve Royle (Britan’s Got Talent, Comic, Presenter) returns as Muddles, to make his annual appearance. The cast also includes Jamie Steen as Nurse, Chris Warner-Drake as Prince Frederick, and Ellie Green as Snow White.


7. Beauty and the Beast, The Dukes, Lancaster

Dates: 3 December – 31 December

A spokesperson said: “Join us at The Dukes this Christmas as we bring Beauty & The Beast to The Round theatre. Created by the team who brought you our highly acclaimed productions of Cinderella: A Fairytale and Sleeping Beauty, this brand-new production is a thoroughly festive adventure that all the family will love.”


8. Jack and the Beanstalk, Lancaster Grand Theatre, Lancaster

Child- £9.50
Dates: 4 December – 30 December

Expect mayhem and magic as Jack and the gang go on an adventure as he climbs the beanstalk to the Giant's land. There will be lots of audience participation, fantastic musical numbers and dazzling costumes- a Christmas treat not to be missed!

9. The Snow Queen, Chorley Theatre, Chorley

Dates: 3 December – 31 December

Loosely based on Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytale, the story is set in a kingdom of ice, where the wicked Queen rules with a cold heart. A plucky peasant sets out to defeat the Queen, and meets new friends and has magical adventures on the way.

A family-friendly show featuring all the usual slapstick, songs and Panto fun audiences have come to expect.

10. Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Preston Playhouse, Preston
Price: From £9
Dates: 10 December – 21 December

This year Preston Musical Comedy Society are presenting their traditional family pantomime with a production of Tom Whalley’s “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”

Dame Gertie Dollop runs the show with her son, Silly Billy but they have fallen on hard times. Particularly with the dastardly Ringmaster Heinkel, owner of the rival circus, up to his old tricks. Dame Gertie needs a miracle after their honeypot of pennies is accidentally stolen by three porridge hungry, talking bears.
