This wonderfully-evocative photo from 1966 shows Blackburn Council Chamber with scale models of the proposed town centre redevelopment being put on display so that councillors could see for the first time how the new shopping centre and town hall tower block would look.
It’s interesting to see the number of ash trays laid out on the curved desks for members. The purpose-built furniture looks impressive but it also looks pretty uncomfortable, especially for a long meeting
