A man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after a business was broken into overnight.

Officers were called to reports of a man breaking into premises on Pleasant Street in Haslingden town centre at about 11.15pm on Sunday.

Patrols attended however the man had already left.

CCTV from the business led officers to later arrest a man on suspicion of burglary who was taken to Greenbank police station in Blackburn.

A spokesperson for the police said: “At 23:14 hours last night we were contacted regarding a male breaking into a local business premises on Pleasant Street in Haslingden town centre.

“Patrols were quickly on scene and confirmed there had been a burglary but the offender had already left the scene.

“The premises in question had some good quality CCTV and officers were able to quickly identify the offender and clearly identify his clothing.

“Following some tenacious enquiries officers from Team 4 Immediate Response arrested a male on suspicion of burglary and the suspect is currently in custody at Greenbank police station.

“Rossendale police will continue to work hard in bringing those to justice who continue to cause misery and grief to the hard-working people of Rossendale.”
