There is set to be more disruption on the roads from next week as the council has released a list of upcoming works which could affect journey times across the borough.

Blackburn with Darwen Council's roads department has provided information on planned roadworks, due to start on Monday, which involve traffic management.

Last week the council made efforts to explain why motorists experienced severe delays on some of the borough's roads at the beginning of the week after commuters were stuck in traffic, many complaining that their journeys were taking twice as long as usual.

On Tuesday night a spokesperson for Blackburn with Darwen Council said: "As many people will have noticed this afternoon, United Utilities have changed the traffic management at Roman Road, Blackburn to multi way signals.

"This caused extreme disruption in the area, particularly with the signals on Blackamoor Road for the junction tie-in works further compounding this.

"This was done without prior warning to allow us to determine any mitigating measures such as manual control of the signals to ease pressure on the network.

"We are assured this will be in place for tomorrow morning and we will be monitoring this closely and will intervene if required.

"The reason for them having to implement temporary signals is the discovery of further damage to the road which was caused as a result of the mains burst on Friday evening and this has been closed off for safety reasons with the damaged sections now being excavated and removed."

On Friday, the council released an updated list of works with the spokesperson adding: "Bear in mind that these are planned roadworks only, and do not include any which are deemed to be urgent or emergency works."

The following list details where the roadworks are to be placed, what company is carrying them out, a description of the works taking place, dates when they are expected to end, and any traffic control measures:
