A festive brick model display is coming to Blackburn later this month.

Following the success of the brick dinosaur trail back in the summer, the town will once again transform into Brickburn and host 16 festive models.

The brick models will be inspired by characters from The Snowman and the Snowdog, the sequel to The Snowman by Raymond Briggs.

The models include The Snowman, The Snowdog, Billy, and a ‘head in the hole’ selfie mosaic.

The trail features four ‘hero’ models including a 1.8m tall snowman and 12 smaller models.

Blackburn businesses are also being given the opportunity to take part in the event by hosting one of the brick models.

However, there are some criteria that need to be met if you do want to host a brick sculpture on the trail.

They are:

  • To be open 7 days a week throughout the trail OR be able to have the brick model visible in a window throughout the trail period

  • If the model is to be in a window, it needs to be a ‘clean window’ i.e. with no advertising around the brick model

  • The model to be in a visible public area in your premises, capable of being informally supervised by staff to make sure it doesn’t get damaged.

A spokesperson for Blackburn BID said: "As the trail and characters are licensed there are some conditions about where the models can be located.

"If you would like to be considered as a host venue for one of the brick models, please email catherine.price@newground.co.uk as soon as possible.

"We will arrange a site visit with Bricklive, who built and install the models, to check for access, suitability and decide on the best model for you."

Installation will take place on 25-26 November, and de-install will take place on a date to be confirmed after 5 January 2022.

Trail maps will be made avaliable for people to follow closer to the launch date.
