Looking across Blackburn from the air in 1989 you can see the true extent of the railway station in the bottom right of the picture.
The bus shelters on the Boulevard in front of the station are clearly visible with the cathedral standing proud at the bottom of the photograph. On the bottom left you can see Church Street with the curved roof of the market hall.
The canopies overhanging the Leeds-Liverpool Canal at Eanam Wharf stand out towards the top of the photograph and it’s interesting to note how many former mill buildings were still standing and in use at this time
