A teaser trailer of Top Gear has been released – and the Lancashire-born host can be seen getting into some sticky situations.

Preston’s Andrew (Freddie) Flintoff appeared on BBC One’s The One Show to promote the new Top Gear series, which is coming to our screens in November.

He said he has formed a great bond with the other hosts, Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris.

Speaking to The One Show presenters, he said: “It’s been so good. We’re all getting close. Paddy is a proper mate and Chris Harris is brilliant. We know what makes each other tick and how to push each other’s buttons.

“We’re getting a chance to be just like kids. You get to cars, drive them about and go to all these different places. It’s something I never thought I’d do but I love.”

In the teaser trailer, the trio can be seen driving sports cars, jumping through fire and even trying their hand at some exteme sports.

In the one-minute clip, Freddie can be seen bracing himself in a zorbing ball as he is rolled down a hill.

In another shot, he is getting sprayed with milk by Paddy McGuinness and another segment shows Flintoff preparing to use a small camping toilet.

On The One Show, Freddie also got the chance to talk about his new book ‘The Book of Fred’.

The 43-year-old explained: “It’s about stories about my life and things I’ve learnt about myself and how I approach life.

“It’s all things from work, to bulimia, depression as well as the more fun stuff, like cricket, as well.”

Flintoff also mentioned that he didn’t know people could make a living out of playing cricket during his teen years.

He said: “I played for Lancashire men’s game reserves when I was 15. It was a three-day game but I didn’t know you got paid.

“At the end of it I got an envelope with £60 in and £10 a mile petrol money for my dad.

“I thought ‘hang on a minute- you get paid for playing cricket? I just thought that’s what people do’.

“After that school took a back seat and I thought ‘I’m gonna do this for my career’.”

People may remember the 2009 ashes series when Flintoff helped England win the urn.

However, Flintoff explained that a lot was happening behind the scenes and that he almost didn’t attend some of the games due to injury.

One Show host, Jermaine Jenas, said: “Behind the scenes there was more stuff going on, wasn’t there?

“Your wife, Rachel, basically had to dress you and get you out of bed.”

Andrew replied: “Looking back at my career if I didn’t play with injuries I don’t think I’d ever have played.

“I survived on painkillers and injections.”
