An East Lancashire jewellers has launched a new incentive that will allow jewellery left behind by loved ones to be treasured forever.

Phil Ainsworth and his wife Helen Dimmick of Ainsworth Jewellers in Blackburn will help people remodel jewellery, resize rings and even create bespoke items through a new initiative called Wendy’s Legacy.

And 15 per cent of all profits for all work or purchases made in memory of a loved one will go to East Lancashire Hospice.

The new and exciting partnership with East Lancashire Hospice has been named Wendy’s Legacy in memory of one of Phil and Helen’s dear friends and loyal customers.

Mr Ainsworth said: "For over 30 years of being in the family business, Wendy was not only a customer, but she became a dear friend.

"Wendy loved her jewellery, most especially diamonds.

"After inheriting significant pieces from her parents, she particularly loved remodelling them to her style.

"Indeed, the pieces she bequeathed have been adapted with her blessing and our support.

"She was passionate that everybody should enjoy wearing their jewellery as much as she did and together, we agreed this as a fitting memorial and tribute to her, while supporting a local charity that does so much for our community.”

The initiative came from Mr Ainsworth's wife, Helen Dimmick, who has recently featured on Gok Wan's ITV daytime show Bling.

Ms Dimmick was extremely close to her grandmother, Annie, who was her inspiration to become a part of the jewellery industry, leading her to become a qualified gemmologist, diamond grader and jewellery specialist.

After Ms Dimmick's grandmother sadly died at East Cheshire Hospice, she wanted to give something back to them and came up with the idea of Annie’s Legacy.

After the success of this campaign, she decided to share the idea with East Lancashire Hospice on this occasion in memory of her dear friend Wendy.

Ms Dimmick said: “We are passionate about both jewellery and people and see our role as bringing the two together, but personally I am motivated by the important role jewellery plays as a symbol of love, friendship and the representation of significant moments in our lives.

“Wendy’s legacy will ensure that the memories embodied by jewellery passed down, are treasured, safeguarded, or given a new lease of life.

"At Ainsworth’s store we can offer trusted authority with precious inherited jewellery for repairs and remodelling.

"We also offer an engraving service, full valuation portfolio and purchase jewellery second hand.”

Fundraising and Lottery lead for East Lancashire Hospice, Leanne Green, said: “When we were approached by Phil and Helen about Wendy’s Legacy, we felt so privileged that they had chosen to work with East Lancashire Hospice.

"It’s great to have built a partnership with Ainsworth Jewellers and we can’t wait to see how far Wendy’s Legacy will go to benefit the care of patients in our community.”
