Police have issued a stark warning to teenagers after they were caught spraying the contents of a fire extinguisher all over buildings and cars.

The youths were spotted emptying the contents of the extinguisher behind the shops on Union Street in Bacup.

Following CCTV enquiries, the juveniles were tracked down, arrested and taken to the police station where their parents and guardians were called.

Officers stated that during their interviews it became apparent that the youths were responsible for a number of other incidents in Bacup in recent weeks.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Once again we were called to juvenile issues in Bacup town centre.

"Three youths had obtained a fire extinguisher and emptied its contents behind the shops on Union Street, coating buildings and people's cars in a thick smog of white powder.

"The youths were tracked down, detained and taken to the police station.

"Parents and guardians were called and it became apparent that these youths were responsible for a number of issues over the past few weeks.

"Let this serve as a warning to others hell bent on causing issues in the town, such as placing traffic cones in the road to endanger road users, those climbing scaffolding and throwing rock from the top and those carrying hammers in the street.

"With CCTV in Bacup, you will be identified, you will be traced and you will face consequences.

"Either this or its time for you to grow up."
