THERE was excitement in East Lancashire yesterday (October 25) as famous faces descended on a town centre to film for an upcoming series.

The Brassic cast, which includes Chorley-born Joe Gilgun and Manchester lass Michelle Keegan, were spotted by eagle-eyed members of the public on Church Street, Accrington - along with the gang's retro red Bedford van.

While the team are regularly spotted filming in East Lancashire locations such as Tockholes and Accrington, Keegan said in a recent interview that she would love to see an episode filmed abroad, and maybe see her character, Erin, escape the often-dreary Lancashire weather.

Crews battled the wind and rain in Accrington yesterday and the cast were seen on several occasions huddling together under umbrellas in a bid to stay dry.

She said: "With it [Brassic] being set up North, it's different, but I'm really proud of the show and what we've achieved together.

"I would love to do an episode in Spain. I don’t know what we can do over there, maybe they get a business making sangria.

"I don’t know, but it’d be hilarious! Maybe they open a new Rat & Cutter in Benidorm or something. I’d love that!

"I want Erin to runaway abroad. We pick her up in Barbados, in a boat or on the beach selling pina coladas. That’s my dream for Erin."

Damien Molony, from Johnstownbridge, Ireland, plays Erin's ex-boyfriend, Dylan, in the show and he has said that he enjoys filming up North and interacting with fans.

He said: "Being up North filming series four, I get recognised for Brassic a lot. It’s really, really lovely. We sometimes have fans come to watch us filming, in the hills or on the street, so sometimes like theatre, you have a live audience!

"We have great fun making Brassic, and it’s lovely to be in a show that people love."
