CHILDREN brandishing kitchen knives confronted staff at a leisure centre.
Officers were called to Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre on Monday evening after concerns were raised about kids on the roof of the building.
However those working at the centre went to speak to the group before the police arrived – and were shocked to see the children holding large knives.
Those in the group were thought to have been around 13-14 years old.
A spokesman said: “Fortunately, the knives were seized but unfortunately, the children didn’t stay around to speak with our Officers.
“This doesn’t need saying but we will say it again, there is no good reason why children or anyone else for that matter should be carrying knives.
“Operation Sceptre will begin in the next couple of weeks, to tackle this very issue.”
