Police have renewed an appeal for information after a woman was sexually assaulted over the weekend.

Detectives say they are continuing to actively pursue enquiries following a report of a woman being the victim of a serious sexual assault in Jean Stansfield Memorial Park, Vicarage Road, Poulton on Friday night.

Police received reports at around 10.40pm that the woman – aged in her 20s – had been followed into the park by a group of four or five men, before one of the men attacked her.

The men are described as being aged in their 30s.

At this time, no arrests have been made.

Police are very keen to hear from anyone who might have CCTV or dashcam footage from that area between 9pm and 10.20pm on Friday October 22.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We are taking this report extremely seriously and the police presence in the area has been increased whilst investigations are ongoing.

"Don’t be concerned if you see officers patrolling – we’re out to keep you safe."
