Two properties have been raided and a number of drugs located in a day of police action.

Officers from the Pendle taskforce executed a number of warrants under the misuse of drugs act in Nelson on Monday.

During the first raid, at a house on Moore Street in the town, officers found suspected cocaine along with other items linked to the supply of drugs.

Although nobody was present at the property, police say they are conducting enquiries to trace the occupants.

In a second raid, at an address in Fern Lea, suspected heroin was located and one man was arrested at the scene.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Officers first attended an address on Moore Street, Nelson whereby suspected cocaine was located along with other items linked to the supply of drugs.

"Nobody was present at this address however police are currently conducting enquiries to trace the occupants.

"Officers then attended an address at Fern Lea, Nelson whereby a quantity of suspected heroin has been located.

"One male has been interviewed by the police and further enquiries are being conducted.

"Drug use and dealing have a detrimental effect on our communities and are often the common cause for other types of crime.

"Officers will continue to target those people responsible who are involved in the supply of drugs which will no doubt make the community a safer place to be and live."
