A car will be returned to its owner after police found it to be displaying false plates.

Police were in Haslingden this morning (October 15) when they came across a vehicle they had 'interest' in.

It turned out that the vehicle was on false plates and was stolen from Bury.

The vehicle has been recovered and will now be returned to the owner, and further enquiries will be conducted.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Whilst out Patrolling in the early hours of this morning in Haslingden Team 5 Rossendale have come across a vehicle they have had interest in.

"It turns out this vehicle was displaying False Plates and was an outstanding stolen from the Bury area of GMP.

"Vehicle has been recovered and will be returned to the rightful owner in due course and further enquiries will be conducted."
