A man has been arrested after a cash security guard was robbed at knifepoint while filling up a cash machine.

Police were called around 8.05am on September 13 to a robbery at Haslingden News in Manchester Road, Haslingden.

A security guard had entered the shop to refill the cash machine when he was approached by two men.

The men, wearing balaclavas and carrying a baseball bat and machete, took a cash box before driving off in a black Volkswagen Golf. The guard was not injured.

The vehicle was later found by police officers following a short pursuit in the West Yorkshire area and cash and weapons were seized by officers.

Following, a number of enquiries, officers last night (October 13) arrested a 44-year-old man from Leeds on suspicion of robbery. He remains in custody at this time.
