A MAN turned up at his ex-partner's home late at night and started banging on the door despite being subject to a restraining order.

Blackburn magistrates heard the victim just heard Mohammed Laheri's voice and immediately pressed the panic alarm she had been given by police.

When they arrived shortly after they found Laheri in a shed attached to the house.

Laheri, 27, of Beardwood Drive, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to breach of a restraining order. He was jailed for eight weeks for the offence and a further 20 weeks for being in breach of a suspended sentence order imposed in June.

Jade Coleman, prosecuting, said the victim, who was 19 weeks pregnant, was asleep in bed when she was woken by banging at the back of her property. When police arrived she leaned out of the bedroom window and told them he was at the rear.

"They located him inside a shed attached to the rear of the property," said Miss Coleman. "She told police that just the sound of his voice filled her with fear."

Daniel Frazer, defending, said the victim was expecting his client's child and it was amazing how quickly the relationship had deteriorated.

He said the restraining order had been imposed after his client was found not guilt of assaulting his ex-partner when she and other witnesses failed to turn up for the trial.

"He dies have issues with drink and mental health and things got too much for him last night," said Mr Frazer.

"He just wanted to speak to her."
