A MAN walked into a Blackburn store and seconds later left with £500 worth of jackets.

Blackburn magistrates heard Keith Garrihy was subject to post sentence supervision at the time of the offences and had already been recalled to prison twice for failing to comply.

Garrihy, 24, of ickinson Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to theft of five DKNY jackets from TK Max and breach of post sentence supervision. He was sentenced to 10 weeks in custody and ordered to pay £450 compensation.

Drew Barrow, prosecuting, said gone into the store at about 10 am and was only in a matter of seconds before leaving with the jackets.

He said earlier this year Garrihy had been jailed for possession of heroin and assaulting an emergency worker.

He had also failed to engage with the probation service on his release from prison and had been recalled twice.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said that since his release from prison Garrihy had found things difficult.

"He accepts he has gone back onto heroin and that he has not been engaging with the probation service," said Mr Taylor.
