Two teenagers have been arrested after a spate of thefts from vehicles.

At around 11.30pm on Monday officers apprehended the teens on Sir Tom Finney Way in Preston following reports that two boys had been seen trying car door handles on Watling Street Road and Victoria Road.

Additionally, police received similar reports from Cromwell Road and Hamilton Road, not too far away, which occurred around 9pm.

Following the arrests, officers recovered a number of items from the youths, and are now looking to identify the owners.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Last night at approximately 11.30, officers from response have arrested two teenage males on Sir Tom Finney Way following reports of males trying car doors in the Watling Street Road and Victoria Road areas of Preston.

"In addition to this, similar reports were received in the Cromwell Road and Hamilton Road areas of Preston around 9pm.

"Following these arrests a quantity of unidentified items of value have been recovered, we are however currently struggling to identify the rightful owners.

"If you have discovered items are missing from your vehicle this morning, or have any CCTV, dashcam or smart doorbell footage showing anyone targeting vehicles in these areas then please contact 101 quoting1679 of October 11."
