A well-loved wine bar and restaurant in the heart of a town centre is up for sale.

Artisan Cafe and Wine Bar in Darwen, has been put on the market for £640,000.

However, this is just the price for a share in the business, as current owner, Jason Rothwell, is to stay on at Artisan and keep the establishment open, and has big plans for the future of the brand.

It is believed negotiations with a third party investor are in the very early stages, but Mr Rothwell says the deal, once finalised, will see Artisan grow, making for very exciting times for the business.

Mr Rothwell said: "We are in the very early stage of negotiations with a buyer, with a view to taking the business forward, with my involvement.

"The third party buyer will provide investment into the business to facilitate growth at the venue and with a possibility of further outlets for Artisan."

According to the business listing on Zoopla, the establishment, in St Georges Terrace, Harwood Street, in Darwen, is said to have a turnover of £300,000 (Covid year impact).

The listing reads: "A popular establishment with regular custom day-to-day and a strong online presence.

"Great mixture of quaint and high-end atmosphere during the weekdays and live entertainment at the weekends, with a large outdoor area in regular demand which provides a stream of revenue.

"Located in a thriving town centre with regular and repeat customers and public footfall.

"Potential to develop of an additional function room or to extend capacity indoors

"Freehold premises, which are included in the sale.

"Offered for sale to facilitate growth under new ownership."
