It’s National Curry Week which is a time to rejoice all things curry and even try some of the best in your area.

To celebrate we have rounded up some of the best local takeaways and restaurants to grab a curry - and they were all chosen by Lancashire Telegraph readers.

So, put your feet up and leave the cooking to someone else tonight as you need to try the businesses listed.

What is National Curry Week?

National Curry Week was founded by the late Peter Grove in 1998 to raise awareness of the Indian restaurant industry.

A spokesperson said: “To this day National Curry Week honours this vision with its three core objectives: to honour the nation’s favourite cuisine, celebrate and support the Indian restaurant industry and the raise money for poverty focussed charities.”

This year, the appreciation week runs from October 4 to 11th.

Where is the best place to get a curry in East Lancashire?

We asked Lancashire Telegraph readers to share their favourite local curry houses in  – here is what they said:

Julie Parkinson said: “Akash in Darwen and Whitecroft Indian [in Haslingden] are both excellent curries!”

Joanne Creamer has to agree, writing: “Whitecroft Indian is the best around”.

Yaseer Patel also listed her favourite and said Roomali Blackburn on Preston New Road is a must-visit.

Colin Lewin said Agra Indian Restaurant and Takeaway in Hapton, near Burnley, is the “best by far”.

He added: “It’s the only one I've really enjoyed eating at in past seven years.”

One business with an overwhelming number of votes in the comment section is Khyber Café, which is one of the oldest curry houses in Blackburn.

Five people praised this business in the comment section with one person recommending the Kheema Special.

If you’re from Burnley, Thomas Ellis and Paul Clough both recommended Usha on Rossendale Road while Amy Jones put forward Shagor on Colne Road if you fancy a takeaway.

Shimla Spice on Church Street in Burnley is Mohammed Bilal’s curry house of choice while John Shackleton recommends Bilash takeaway on Blackburn Road in Darwen.

Deborah Cottam Barton wrote: “ Tara Asian Takeaway in Rosegrove, Burnley” and David Disley had to agree.

John Brook Carl said: “The best curries you can get in Blackburn are from Kebabish Original (Whalley New Road), Sultans (Whalley Range) and East Z East (Northgate).

“Authentic, delicious and high quality”

Shajan on Longsight Road in Blackburn or The Whitecroft on Haslingden Road in Oswaldtwistle,” Amber Rowe put forward.

If none of these appeal, we can always go to Nazia Hussain’s for dinner who simply wrote “my house”.
