It's Bonfire Night and many people will be on the hunt for local firework displays and bonfires to visit over the weekend

It really is a beautiful time of year and perfect time to wrap up and head to a gorgeous firework display or bonfire with the family.

Due to the pandemic, many displays had to be cancelled last year so many organisers are hoping to come back with a literal bang in 2021.

Here are some Lancashire bonfire events taking place tonight and over the weekend - and they all still have tickets left. 

1. Light Up Lancaster 2021, Market Square, Lancaster
5 November – 6 November
Cost? Free
Description: “During the first weekend of November, join us in Lancaster city centre on a family-friendly trail of discovery and enjoy the transformation of the city into a magical installation of light.

“Catch free performances dotted amongst secret squares and well-known buildings, and experience captivating light projections, amazing performances, music, dance, film and fireworks.

“As an antidote to the hard times we have all experienced over the last 18 months, this year Light Up Lancaster has adopted the theme, Flights of the Imagination”.

2. Fireworks at Blackpool Pleasure Beach
When? 6 November
Cost? Ticket prices for Blackpool Pleasure Beach start from £39 for adults and £33 for kids.
Description: The Pleasure Beach is open on Saturday 6th November from 11 am – 5 pm, but make sure you stay until the end as we will be putting on an incredible Fireworks Display to celebrate our 125th year in style!

3. Darwen Mayor's Town Bonfire, Darwen Cricket Club, Monton Road, Darwen
When: 6 November
Cost?: Donations welcome


“After a year away, the hottest event in town returns bigger and better.

The fire will be lit at 6:30pm with a spectacular firework display lighting up the sky at 7:30pm.

“But that's not all, we will also have a range of food stalls, alongside indoor and outdoor bars. Whilst the kids can enjoy themselves on our fairground rides.

“All welcome with admission again by donation, with all proceeds going to the Mayor's chosen charity.”

4. Bonfire Night at Rawtenstall Cricket Club, Bacup Road
When? 5 November
Cost? Adults- £4 (£5 on the gate)
Children - £3
Family - £12 (£15 on gate)
Description: More details are set to be announced about the event close to the time.

The event will start at 6pm and last until 11pm.

In previous years, ticket prices started at £3 and tickets could be purchased from the club itself.

There was also a bar, barbeque and fireworks display.

5. Clitheroe Castle, Castle Playing Fields, Clitheroe
6 November
Cost? Adults- £5
Children -£2.50
Teen (12-17) - £3
Family ticket - £10

This event has been jointly organised by the Clitheroe Rotary, Ribblesdale Rotary, Clitheroe Round Table and Clitheroe Lions.

There will be a bonfire and a fireworks display.

6. Gregson Green Community Centre, Gregson Lane, Preston
When? 6 November
Cost? £6 adults / £4 children

This year we have tried to buy reduced noise fireworks, going for a more colourful display over noise, as the retailers have made more reduced noise fireworks available after last year. The majority of volunteers are pet owners and understand the issues.”

7. Oakhill School and Nursery, Wiswell Lane, Clitheroe

"Oakhill's Fireworks Extravaganza is over 20 years old - so most definitely a successful event on the map!

"There is no need for wellies as viewing is safely from the netball courts on hard standing. The fireworks are truly spectacular and last for over 15 minutes.

"Ticket prices include a pie and peas or hot dog supper, served in the Millennium Hall and firework display.

"Entry & food from 6.00pm, firework display from 7.30pm."

8. Astley Park, Chorley
5 November
Cost: Free

A spokesperson said: "Join us in Astley Park, Chorley to celebrate Bonfire Night on Friday 5 November with a traditional bonfire and spectacular fireworks display from 6.30pm – 8pm.

"This is a fun event for all the family with the bonfire lit at 7pm and the fireworks display at 7.30pm. Entry to the event is FREE, however donations are welcome on the night for the Mayor’s  nominated charities.

"There’ll be a range of food and drink stalls so you can purchase a bite to eat, including seasonal treats such as new potatoes, black peas, toffee apples, boozy coffee, hot mulled gin and more"

9. Downham Bonfire 2021, Downham Village, Ribble Valley
5 November
Cost: £5

A spokesperson wrote: "Downham’s Firework Display and Bonfire will take place on Friday 5th November in the village hall car park at 6 pm in aid of the Village Hall Refurbishment.

"The bonfire will be lit at 6.00 with the firework display starting at 6.45/7.00pm. Top quality food options available from The Langden Grill (recently featured on BBC TV’s ‘The Hairy Bikers Go North’)."
