A care home and dementia facility are celebrating after being rated 'good' in their most recent inspection.

Hollymount Residential and Dementia Care Centre on West Park Road, Blackburn, has moved up from 'requires improvement' in their inspection which took place on July 13 and 14.

The care centre is elated with the result after a tough 18 months of working during various lockdowns with some of the most at-risk patients.

Hollymount’s registered manager Carolyn Skelly added “It has been difficult through the pandemic and at times has been quite challenging.

"However, we have all pulled together to make sure that our Hollymount family have been kept safe and well.

"I really can’t thank the team enough for their continued dedication and commitment to achieve our rating with CQC.

"We are all over the moon and we will continue to improve.

"I would also like to thank the providers for their continued support throughout the difficult times we have been going through, without them also, we could not have achieved our good report.

"Well done team Hollymount.”

The care home was previously visited on March 9 and 10, 2020, for an unannounced inspection just before the first lockdown when it received a 'requires improvement' rating.

The CQC then conducted an unrated targeted inspection on November 2, 2020, to look at the infection prevention and control measures in place.

The most recent rating has praised the centre, with the report mentioning them having completed an action plan as to how they have met legal requirements and increased staffing levels.

The home currently supports 27 residents aged 60 and over and has the capacity to provide care to up to 38 people.
