An open day is taking place in Blackburn to help more people get the help they need to get into employment. 

It is being organised as part of as part of Social Inclusion Week by job provider Ingeus which has already supported more than 960 people into work in the last month.

Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS) North West is a programme providing a range of services from specialist employment coaches, including employability skills workshops, job matching, and access to top employers recruiting in the area.

The Ingeus JETS team in East Lancashire will be holding their first Social Inclusion open day at Audley Centre in Blackburn on Tuesday 28 September and it is open to everyone. The event will allow people to learn more about JETS and how to join the programme, as well as take part in sample workshops.

A host of leading employers and training providers are attending the event to share their courses and vacancies for people looking to upskill and get back to work, including Blackburn With Darwen Adult Learning, National Careers Service, and Euro Garages.

The event will also showcase the products and services of the local businesses Ingeus JETS’ self-employment division have helped participants get started.

Minister for Employment Mims Davies said “It’s brilliant to see Ingeus getting the word out about our fantastic JETS scheme, which has already helped over 25,000 people land new roles. I urge anyone in Blackburn and East Lancashire to get involved in this event and discover how the Plan for Jobs can work for you.”

A recent Ingeus JETS participant said: “This opportunity wouldn't have happened without you and I'm very grateful for all the hard work you've put in to helping me.” The open day is free to attend and will offer exclusive employment opportunities and skills workshops."

It is commissioned and financed by the Department for Work and Pensions and a European Social Fund match funded programme.
