A person has been found dead on railway tracks in East Lancashire.
At around 10.30am on Friday, emergency services were called to Brierfield Railway station after receiving reports that a person was on the tracks.
They arrived and located the body, but sadly the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to Brierfield railway station at 10.30am this morning (September 24) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.
"This incident is not being treated as suspicious."
Due to the emergency services dealing with the incident, the train line between Colne and Rose Grove was blocked in both directions
A spokesperson for Northern said: "Services will be delayed or terminated and started back from Rose Grove, disruption expected until 2pm.
"Road replacement transport is running in both directions between Rose Grove and Colne where customers can complete their journeys to Burnley Barracks, Burnley Central, Brierfield, Nelson and Colne."
