Police have issued a renewed appeal to find a man after two shop burglaries in which cash was stolen from tills.

Earlier in the week police in the Ribble Valley asked for help to identify the man in the CCTV image after an 'incident' at The Cabin on Higher Road in Longridge.

Since the initial appeal, officers received a second report of a similar incident, but this time at a separate business in Longridge.

Police believe the two burglaries are linked, after a man has targeted business premises either in the early morning or late at night, when only one staff member is working.

Officers say in both instances, the man has asked for an item that isn't on any of the shop shelves, and when the member of staff has gone into the back to look, the man has reached over the counter and taken cash before leaving the shop.

Posting on social media, a spokesperson for the police said: "You will have seen our previous post earlier in the week asking for your help about an incident at The Cabin on Higher Road at Longridge.

"We want to speak to the male in the photo about it and we’ve attached the picture again to jog your memories.

"We have received another report from another business in Longridge which is similar in nature to the one reported from The Cabin.

"We are treating both as linked and believe that a male is targeting premises either early in the morning or late at night when there might be only one member of staff working.

"The male is asking for items that aren’t on the shelves but might be in the back and when the staff member is being helpful and away from the till, the male has reached over the counter, and taken cash before making his getaway."

If you have any information about who the man is, please get in touch with police by calling 101 and quoting log number 1726 of September 19.
