A charity bonfire event which is a mainstay of Blackburn's annual social calendar is set to make a return after a year hiatus.

Blackburn Charity Bonfire is being held on Saturday, November 6 this year after being cancelled last year due to Covid-19.

The event, which is organised by Blackburn Round Table, Blackburn Lions and Blackburn Rotary, will see thousands flock to Witton Park for a bonfire and fireworks display.

There will also be live music from a band called Drive from Clitheroe, a fairground and food stalls selling hots dogs, burgers, toffee apples and more.

Honorary member of Blackburn Round Table, and bonfire committee member, Frank Barratt is excited to bring the event back.

He said: “We are really looking forward to it. We have worked hard to make it bigger and better than ever.

“We have lots of things going on including the funfair and live music on the stage and of course the bonfire and the fireworks.”

The event has a policy of no personal fireworks or sparklers due to health and safety rules.

Mr Barratt is also seeking donations for pallet type wood and asks that anyone who is able to help to contact the Blackburn charity bonfire page on Facebook.

The door will open at 5pm, with the bonfire to be lit at 7.30pm and tickets can be bought online at https://www.ticketebo.co.uk/blackburn-charity-bonfire/blackburn-charity-bonfire-event.html There is a special 50 per cent off family ticket available for two adults and four children priced at £5 which is available to but until the end of September.

The event is sponsored by Blackburn with Darwen Council, Witton Park Academy, Adhan Commercial Lettings, Blackburn Skip Hire and Pennine Fire.
