CCTV appeal as elderly Nelson residents burgled for second time in two months

On Tuesday, at around 2pm, a property on Rutland Street in Nelson was broken into.

The occupants, who are elderly and vulnerable, were targeted with a purse stolen from inside the address.

Police are now appealing for information and are asking residents in the area to look out for their neighbours.

A spokesperson for the police said: "On September 21 at approximately 2pm there was a burglary that happened on Rutland Street in Nelson.

"This is the second time in two months that the elderly, vulnerable occupants have been targeted.

"On the latest occasion a red plastic purse with black clasp fastener and its contents have been stolen.

"This appeal is twofold.

"Firstly, do you have any CCTV in that area that may have captured the offender who is described as an Asian male, slim build, black beard, wearing a bubble jacket with the hood up.

"Secondly, we are still actively looking for the red purse, have you seen it? Do you know where it is?

"Any information is gratefully received.

"Finally, if you are aware of any similar incidents in this area or feel that yourself, neighbours or friends may have been targeted, again please don't hesitate to contact the numbers below.

"Please look out for your neighbours and take care."
